Power is selected based on water volume and desired heating speed:
The Model C Mechanical will be perfect if you are looking for a simple-to-use, durable, and more affordable appliance. The mechanical thermostat is adjusted by turning a knob — no screen, no electronic buttons that can fail. If you prefer a precise digital display and adjustment to the nearest degree, opt for the Model C Digital.
The Model C Mechanical connects to the existing filtration system and requires a dedicated 240 V power supply. Electrical connection must be made by a master electrician in accordance with the Quebec Construction Code — Chapter V electricity. The official Val-Therm user manual is provided with the appliance.
What is the difference between the Model C Mechanical and the Model C Digital?
The heating material is identical. The difference is the type of thermostat: the Mechanical is adjusted with a rotary knob (simpler and more affordable), while the Digital offers a digital display with adjustment to the nearest degree. Heating performance and dimensions are identical.
Is the mechanical thermostat as accurate as a digital thermostat?
The mechanical thermostat is accurate to within a few degrees, which is largely sufficient for a pool. If you want adjustment to the exact degree, the Model C Digital is more appropriate.
Is an electrician required for installation?
Yes. The Model C Mechanical requires a dedicated 240 V connection which must be performed by a master electrician in accordance with the Quebec Electrical Code.
Is the Titanium option worth it?
If your pool is salt-treated or heavily chlorinated, yes: the Titanium element is more corrosion-resistant and will last longer. For a standard chlorine pool with normal dosage, the Regular element is sufficient.
