How to clean a filter cartridge?
Rinse the cartridge with a hose to dislodge debris; for a deep clean, use a cartridge cleaner. Replace it when it is worn or deformed.
When to replace the cartridge?
Generally after a few seasons, or when the pressure remains high despite cleaning and filtration decreases.
What size (sq ft) to choose?
The larger the filtration surface (in sq ft), the better the filtration and the more spaced out the cleanings. Choose according to the volume of your pool and the pump's flow rate.
Is the cartridge filter suitable for above-ground pools?
Yes. The Hayward X-Stream, for example, is designed for above-ground pools; other models are suitable for in-ground pools.
