How does a clarifier work?

It agglomerates particles that are too fine to be retained by filtration alone; they then become large enough to be trapped by the filter (sand or cartridge). Ideal for correcting cloudy water after a storm, a party, or heavy use.

Frequently asked questions about clarifiers

Clarifier or flocculant?

The clarifier helps the filter capture particles; the flocculant (Alum, Floc) makes particles settle to the bottom to be vacuumed to waste. Floc is more powerful for very cloudy water.

How long until the water is clear?

Often a few hours to 24 hours with filtration running, depending on the product and the condition of the water.

Compatible with my filter?

Yes, clarifiers are suitable for sand and cartridge filters. Follow the dosage on the label.
