In brief: Pentair Hi-Flow six-position, 1.5-inch, top-mount multiport valve. A common replacement part for Cristal-Flo II, Sand Dollar, and Tagelus D sand filters. Pentair part number 262506.
Is the valve leaking, sticking, or pushing sand back into the pool?
An end-of-life multiport valve manifests in three ways. It leaks through the waste port even when in the filter position, a sign that the spider gasket is worn. It becomes difficult to turn, a sign that the mechanism is clogged or the gasket has hardened. Or it allows sand to pass into the pool, a sign that the gasket is no longer sealing between the ports.
In all three cases, the cause is the internal gasket. On a valve with an intact body, replacing the gasket is sufficient. On a valve that is cracked or has eroded ports, the complete valve must be replaced.

Compatibility clarification
This valve is often presented as a part specific to the Tagelus D. That is too narrow a description. Pentair officially lists it in three separate documents: the Cristal-Flo II parts sheet, the Sand Dollar parts sheet, and the Tagelus manual. It is the 1.5-inch Hi-Flow valve common to all three lines.
For a Tagelus with 2-inch plumbing, the corresponding valve is the 261185, not the 262506.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know if it is the gasket or the entire valve?
Disassemble the valve and inspect the spider gasket and the surface of the body it rests on. A flattened, hardened, or split gasket can be replaced alone. A pitted, scratched, or eroded seating surface requires the complete valve.
Why is my valve leaking at the waste port?
Almost always because of a worn spider gasket. In a less common scenario, the lever is not perfectly seated in a position, allowing two ports to communicate.
Will this valve fit my filter?
It corresponds to 1.5-inch top-mount Cristal-Flo II, Sand Dollar, and Tagelus D sand filters. Verify your plumbing diameter and mounting layout before ordering. If in doubt, send us a photo of your installation.
Does Pentair publish the maximum pressure and flow rate for this valve?
No. These values do not appear in any official Pentair sheet consulted. We prefer not to display a number rather than take one from an unofficial source.
