The largest size in the Cristal-Flo II line
A larger filter doesn’t filter better at any given moment—it filters longer before becoming clogged. With 3.2 sq. ft. of area and 300 lb. of sand, the 24-inch Cristal-Flo II allows more time between backwashes and puts less strain on the pump.
It’s also the first model in the line rated for a 50 psi operating pressure, compared with 35 psi for the 20-inch and smaller sizes.

About unions
Pentair does not publicly specify which part numbers in this line are shipped with or without unions. The union kit is sold separately under part number 150119 for a 1.5-inch valve and 272569 for a 2-inch valve. Check with us before ordering if your installation requires unions.
Frequently asked questions
22 or 24 inches?
The 24-inch model handles 70 GPM compared with 60 GPM for the 22-inch model, with 3.2 sq. ft. of area compared with 2.6 sq. ft. If you have a powerful pump or want to go longer between backwashes, the 24-inch model is the better choice. There’s no downside to an oversized filter.
How many bags of sand?
300 lb., or six 50 lb. bags, of #20 silica sand in white quartz, 0.40 to 0.55 mm. Check the required capacity on your filter’s nameplate.
When should the sand be replaced?
Every five to seven years in residential use in Quebec. The most reliable sign: after backwashing, the filter no longer returns to its starting pressure.
Which replacement parts should I keep on hand?
The 1.5-inch multiport valve is 262506, the clamp is 152165, the pressure gauge is 190059, the tank O-ring is 272541, and the drain plug is 154712Z. We keep these parts in stock.
