The compact sand filter for a small pool
The Cristal-Flo II is Sta-Rite's legacy line of sand filters. It features a one-piece molded polyethylene tank, so there is no tank seam that could leak, and a top-mounted six-position multiport valve.
The 19-inch model is the most compact in the range offered here. It is suitable for pools with a pump flow rate of no more than 40 GPM.

Specification correction
This filter was long advertised with a 200 lb. sand capacity. Pentair's official brochure lists 150 lb. for the 19-inch CF1119. No 200 lb. capacity appears in the Cristal-Flo II line, which is available in 100, 150, 250, 300, and 350 lb. capacities, depending on diameter. We have corrected this information.
Regarding unions: Pentair does not publicly document which part numbers are supplied with or without unions. The union kit is sold separately under part number 150119 for a 1.5-inch valve. Check with us before ordering if your installation requires unions.
Frequently asked questions
What sand should I buy?
#20 silica sand in white quartz, with a particle size of 0.40 to 0.55 mm and a uniformity coefficient of 1.75 or less. Construction or play sand does not have the required particle size and lets fine particles pass through.
Which pump is suitable for this filter?
A pump with a flow rate no greater than 40 GPM in filtration mode. A pump that is too powerful for an undersized filter pushes water through the sand bed too quickly: filtration becomes ineffective and pressure rises.
How long does the sand last?
Five to seven years in residential use in Quebec. The most reliable sign is a filter that no longer returns to its starting pressure after backwashing.
Cristal-Flo II or Sand Dollar?
The two lines share the same blow-molded tank platform and several common parts: plumbing assemblies, clamp 152165, and pressure gauge 190059. They differ mainly in original branding and the sizes offered.
