A broken lid is a safety hazard
The skimmer lid is at ground level, on the pool deck. A cracked, broken, or missing lid is a trap for a bare foot and leaves an open hole several inches deep.
Plastic becomes brittle from UV exposure and freezing, then breaks under the weight of a step or when furniture is moved.
It’s an inexpensive part and an immediate replacement: there’s no reason to leave a broken lid in place during the season.

How can I make sure this is the right model?
Measure the diameter of your current lid and check the attachment type. Round and square lids are not interchangeable. If you’re unsure, send us a photo.
Why is mine turning yellow?
UV exposure discolors white plastic over the years. This is cosmetic and does not affect its strength, but a heavily discolored lid has often become brittle as well.
Should I remove it for the winter?
No, but avoid walking on it and don’t place anything heavy on it when it’s frozen: cold plastic breaks much more easily.
