Want to switch to salt but hesitating because of the electrician?
Most salt systems need to be hardwired to a dedicated circuit. For a small pool, the cost of the electrical hookup can sometimes exceed the cost of the unit, leaving the project on ice.
The Hayward AquaRite XL is the corded version. It plugs into a compliant 120 V outdoor outlet instead of being hardwired. It comes with a TurboCell 3 cell, for pools up to 15,000 gallons.
Specifications
- Hayward part number: AQR3XLCUL (Open Line channel, authorized for online sales)
- 120 V corded power supply
- TurboCell 3 cell included, for pools up to 15,000 gallons
- Automatically converts dissolved salt into chlorine
- Operating salt level: 2,400 to 3,400 ppm
Choose a system rated for a larger pool
A cell sized right at the limit runs at full capacity all summer and wears out quickly. If your pool is close to 15,000 gallons, consider the 25,000-gallon model instead. The cell will last significantly longer.
Frequently asked questions
Can I really plug it into a regular outlet?
Yes, into a compliant, protected outdoor outlet. That's the advantage of the corded XL version. Have your outlet checked if you're unsure.
What's the difference between this and the regular AquaRite?
The power supply. The standard AquaRite is hardwired, while the XL has a 120 V cord.
What should I monitor after switching to salt?
The pH, which tends to rise with a salt system, and the salt level itself. The rest of your maintenance stays the same.
